HOMEWORK Jan. 19-22, 2010

Each week, all classes will be listed in this order-- 7th grade (in orange), 8th grade (in green), 9th grade (in purple) then 11th grade (in blue). Look for your class below...

7th grade PHYSICAL SCIENCE... We are currently studying about ENERGY from Ch. 13--ENERGY TEST WILL BE on FRIDAY, Jan. 29
Monday, Jan. 18--No School --MLK Day
Tuesday, Jan. 19--Students placed in groups to explore energy sources and make an advertisement for ENERGY SOURCES....
  • 1. Look for answers to this question and convert this energy source into usable energy?
  • 2. List all the reasons people should use this type.
  • 3. Disclaimer: Negative thing(s) about this energy source

Wednesday, Jan. 20--Receive printed rubric for project that we began yesterday and is due on MONDAY (but should be finished by the end of class on Thursday)
Thursday, Jan. 21--Work on ADVERTISEMENT project today
Friday, Jan. 22-- Students should work independently from the textbook today. Complete the section called VISUALIZING MAIN IDEAS on p. 399 by drawing the concept map and filling in the words listed where they go. On their same paper they should complete questions 1-22 from p. 400-401. Complete sentence answers are needed on all BUT the multiple choice answers which may have letter answers. They should turn in whatever amount they have finished at the end of class. Tell them they will probably have to finish it for HW on Monday.

8th grade EARTH SCIENCE -- We are currently studying WEATHERING AND EROSION from Ch. 7 and Ch. 8... NEXT TEST WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY, Jan. 27 (this is a change!)
Monday, Jan. 18--NO SCHOOL due to MLK day
Tuesday, Jan. 19 -- Define and draw a picture for :
  • A. Terminal moraine
  • B. Lateral moraine
  • C. Striations
  • D. Cirque
  • E. Kettle hole
Read p. 206 and do procedure #1 and #2 then make the graph mentioned in Challenge #2.
Wednesday, Jan. 20-- Read 9.1 and discuss runoff; TEST MOVED TO WEDNESDAY, Jan. 28.
Thursday, Jan. 21--Work on study guide for next Wed's test today
Friday, Jan. 22--Diagram the water cycle p. 212 and label all the words labeled in the book's drawing


9th BIOLOGY-- We are currently studying Ch. 23 on HEREDITY and GENETICS

Monday, Jan. 18--No School-- MLK day

Tuesday, Jan. 19--Read 23.2 and define the vocab. words:
  • genetics
  • homozygous
  • heterozygous
  • hybrid
  • dominant trait
  • recessive trait
  • allele
  • incomplete dominance
  • Punnett Square
  • dihybrid
Wednesday, Jan. 20-- Review vocab. (add genotype and phenotype to the list) and take notes over determining the genotype and phenotypes of offspring
Thursday, Jan. 21--Worksheet on genetics and PUNNETT SQUARES
Friday, Jan. 22--Check the genetics worksheet and begin outlining Ch. 23 Sec. 3


11th grades -- We are studying the MUSCULAR SYSTEM
-- TEST WILL BE ON TUESDAY, JAN. 26 over the MUSCULAR SYSTEM (this is a change!)
Monday, Jan. 18--No school due to MLK
Tuesday, Jan. 19-- Use the ARIS website and do the interactive muscle reviews on the site; Finish the coloring sheet from last Friday over Trunk and legs
Wednesday, Jan. 20--Review the material from Ch. 7 that the students will be responsible for on the test -- WHICH HAS BEEN CHANGED TO TUESDAY, Jan. 26
Thursday, Jan. 21--Outline Ch. 8 sec. 1
Friday, Jan. 22-- Read p.461-485 in Brand book HW--be studying for Tuesday's test!!!!
