HOMEWORK for Mar. 15-19, 2010

7th grade PHYSICAL SCIENCE...........We are currently studying SOUND -- Test will be on Thursday, Mar. 25 over Sound
Monday, Mar. 15-- Visit the SOUNDS AMAZING WEBSITE again today
Tuesday, Mar. 16--Read p. 490-495 and define amplitude, volume, decibels, pitch, frequency, energy, echo, reflection then make a concept map using these words (showing how they are related to one another)
Wednesday, Mar. 17--Discuss Hearing frequencies of different animals versus man; Basics of echolocation (bats and dolphins)
Thursday, Mar. 18--Make a graph comparing string lengths and frequencies

PIANO STRINGS--graph of string length and frequencies

10 cm 900 Hz

20 cm 500 Hz

30 cm 350 Hz

40 cm 275 Hz

50 cm 200 Hz

60 cm 175 Hz

70 cm 135 Hz

80 cm 100 Hz

Graph the string length on the x axis (horizontal) and the frequency on the y axis (vertical). Make sure to label the axes. Title the graph.

When the graph is completed determine the length of Middle C if the frequency of Middle C is 256 Hz.

Friday, Mar. 19-- Study the human ear and make a diagram of it. Work on Study guide today for next Thursday's test.
